Confirmation Classes

Youngsters in seventh and eighth grades are welcomed into the confirmation process. This is a time of intensive formation in the faith and is expected of all members of the appropriate age and offered to non-members, as well. AT FLCR, youngsters become grounded in the traditional Lutheran catechism which includes the memorization of the Lord’s Prayer, the 10 Commandments, the Apostle’s Creed, and other requirements. The initial year provides the opportunity to become familiar with the Old Testament and the worship life of the church. The second year involves formation in the practice of prayer, familiarization with the New Testament and life of Jesus, church history and facets of one’s own congregation, as well as time to talk about ethical issues. At the close of the program, youngsters are ready for entrance into adult membership of the church. They will have identified their tentative spiritual gifts in order to share actively in the life of the community into which they are being confirmed.
