On December 27, 2009, First Lutheran sponsored its first Blue Christmas service. A Blue Christmas Service is for those Christian for whom the spirit of Christmas is bittersweet, bringing forth memories of loved ones since gone, times and happiness since passed.

Pastor Aurand and Music Director Bill Hively worked in tandem to bring this Service of Remembrance to fruition. Many thanks to both of them. Thanks is also owed Director of Congregational Life Jen Kilps & the Outreach Committte for working to promote this remarkable and moving service.
